Terms of Service
The rules for using Handaan: how booking works, who pays whom, and what we do (and don't do).
Effective 2026-11-04
1. About Handaan
Handaan is an online marketplace that helps customers in the Philippines find and book event rentals and services from independent local vendors. Vendors are separate businesses. When you book, your agreement for the rentals or services is with the vendor, under the Booking Terms. Handaan is not a party to that agreement and does not provide the rentals or services itself.
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 years old and give accurate information. Keep your password safe; you are responsible for what happens on your account. One person per account. We may ask you to verify your phone or email.
3. How booking works
You send a request. The vendor has 24 hours to accept or decline. After accepting, the vendor confirms the booking by paying Handaan's booking fee (or using a free booking). You then see the vendor's payment details and contact details, and pay the deposit to the vendor within 48 hours. The balance is due 3 days before the event. Bookings made less than 3 days before the event are paid in full.
4. Payments
Customers pay vendors directly by GCash, Maya or bank transfer, to the account shown in the app. Handaan does not receive or hold customers' payments for rentals or services. Only pay to the account shown on your booking page; Handaan staff will never ask you to pay anywhere else. Upload your receipt in the app so the vendor can confirm it.
Vendors pay Handaan a booking fee for each confirmed booking through our payment provider, PayMongo, under the Vendor Agreement. Customers pay no booking fee.
5. Cancellations and refunds
If you cancel a paid booking: more than 14 days before the event you get back everything you paid; 7–14 days before, the vendor keeps half the deposit; less than 7 days before, the vendor keeps the deposit; less than 48 hours before, there is no refund. If the vendor cancels, you get back everything you paid.
Because the vendor holds your payment, refunds are sent by the vendor. Handaan shows what is owed, tracks it, and can act against vendors who don't pay (including suspension), but Handaan is not itself liable to pay refunds for vendors.
6. Reviews and content
Reviews must be honest and about a real booking. Don't post contact details, personal information about others, or offensive content. We may hide content that breaks these rules. You keep ownership of what you post but let us show it on Handaan.
7. Things you must not do
Arrange to pay or be paid outside Handaan to avoid the booking fee; post false listings or reviews; harass anyone; list or book anything illegal; use someone else's account; or try to break or overload the service.
8. Problems between customers and vendors
Use “Report a problem” on the booking. Our team reviews the booking, chat and payment records and decides what is fair under the Booking Terms, for example a full or partial refund. This does not take away your rights under the law, including filing a complaint with the DTI or a small claims case.
9. Our responsibility
We work to keep Handaan available and to verify vendors, but we can't guarantee the quality, safety or legality of what vendors provide. To the extent the law allows, Handaan is not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the booking fees we received for the booking concerned. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Philippine law.
10. Suspension
We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, for example vendors with 3 cancellations after payment within 90 days, or anyone who commits fraud.
11. Changes and law
We may update these Terms and will tell you about important changes. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Philippines. Contact us at support@handaan.shop or 0952 463 6450.
